Sunday August 15 1:00pm-3:00pm.

Tatakizome Workshop — The Art of Japanese Flower Pounding

Discover the calming and creative world of Tatakizome, a traditional Japanese technique that captures the natural colors of plants onto fabric through the simple act of pounding flowers and leaves.

The word Tatakizome literally means “hammer-dyeing,” a beautiful process where plants are placed between layers of fabric and gently hammered until their pigments and delicate shapes transfer onto the cloth.

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the basics of plant colors, natural dyeing, and how different plants release their unique prints and pigments. Together, we’ll explore the beauty hidden in the wild plants and “weeds” growing around us .

Each participant will create and decorate their own canvas tote bag using flowers and leaves gathered from nature.

All materials are included, and the tools are wonderfully simple: rubber hammers, Canva Tote bag, flowers, sealer, fabric markers.

Enjoy a cozy and welcoming experience complete with tea and snacks as you slow down, connect with nature, and create something truly one of a kind.

Limited to 20 spots.
